Fight Workplace Burnout with Gratitude
The power of ‘please’
Although it is not necessary for leaders to add a ‘please’ to their task assignments, the illusion of choice emphasizes collaboration. When people feel they are appreciated and working together, their attitude is positively affected and improves engagement and performance.
The power of ‘thank You’
Do not underestimate the power of a thank you, especially during a busy workday, it goes a long way in showing Employee Appreciation. If someone is taking their energy and time to send you something, return the favor and respond with a thank you. No one wants to feel like they are playing ping pong by themselves (aka sending e-mails and completing assignments with no response).
Bottom Line
It’s easy to get caught up in a busy day, especially when employees are working remotely, but nurturing good connections with each other is crucial to success. Energy is contagious and by consistently showing gratitude we not only feel more appreciation but make others feel appreciated. Adding a seemingly small adjustment, like please and thank you, maintains the connection between employees and their mission.
